A Digital ID is an app that lets you verify your ID and encrypt it on your phone. It’s a privacy-preserving way to sign up for services or swap details with someone you’ve connected with online. If you’re in the UK, you can use your Digital ID to pick up parcels at the Post Office and to prove your age at most cinemas and convenience stores.

Digital ID is safer and more privacy-preserving than using a physical ID. Your Digital ID is connected to your phone, your ID and your selfie, so no one else can pretend to be you.

When you use your Digital ID in person, you can show your name, age or date of birth separately, without showing your full ID.

When you use your Digital ID online, you can share the details you need without unnecessarily revealing your identity.

Digital ID Connect can’t see what data you’ve shared with who. Your data is encrypted  and can only be accessed or shared using your PIN, FaceID or TouchID.

Install either Lloyds Bank Smart ID, Post Office EasyID or Yoti ID on your phone and follow the set-up instructions.
